Big Moves for Fort Modular: Interior Okanagan

Posted on

Fort Modular has just significantly expanded their Interior-Okanagan facility, moving from a 2-acre yard in Kamloops to a spacious 17-acre industrial site they just purchased and developed in Barriere, BC.

Fort Modular Regional Manager Greg Tymchyna says, “We have experienced tremendous growth over the last three years, and this new expansion will give us the ability to double our local production and manufacturing capacity and deliver a quicker turnaround.”

The new Interior-Okanagan site has already undergone some development. The land has been cleared, the ground gravel-packed, and the area fenced. The branch office, all staff members, and some inventory have already moved to the new location. “We are grateful that our full staff has agreed to relocate to the new facility,” adds Tymchyna. “I think it really says something when a team unanimously agrees to move or commute to stay with the company.”

During this transition, inventory that has already been allocated for rental will remain at the old Kamloops site until those buildings are ready for shipping. New modular building acquisitions and returning rental trailers will all be redirected to the new Barriere site, effectively closing operations at the Kamloops yard at the end of November 2021.

Construction on 20,000 square feet of new covered, heated and illuminated production space is also underway, with foundations currently being laid. The team expects three new production structures to be completed in early November 2021. The site plan includes the option to easily increase building size to accommodate future growth.

“Upon completion, the new Interior-Okanagan production facility will allow the team to service and renovate pre-owned buildings, as well as manufacture new buildings, in a heated and controlled environment, providing our clients with better quality modular buildings.”

“We are super excited to be setting firm roots in the region,” says Tymchyna. “We strongly support the local communities we service and are committed to our clients in the region.”

The new Interior-Okanagan branch will predominantly be used for the refurbishment and renovation of pre-owned modular buildings, trailers, and containers, which includes service and inspection of rental buildings before they get shipped to sites all across BC. This facility will also produce some newly manufactured buildings designated for the region. The head office in Aldergrove will continue to service the Lower Mainland building rental market, as well as manufacturing new buildings for the entire operation.

Combined with the 5-acre Aldergrove plant and head office in the Lower Mainland, the additional 17 acres in the Interior-Okanagan will provide Fort Modular with enough space to support their fleet of modular buildings, with the expectation that some units will always be out for rental.

More to come…

The new Interior-Okanagan location is just over 60 km north of Kamloops along Highway 5, in the Louis Creek Industrial Park. The new address is 3732 Enterprise Way, Barriere, BC  V0E 2E0. The main Interior-Okanagan contact number will remain 250.879.fort (3678).
